Suzi Tremaine warily opened her front door. It took a split second to actually recognise just who was standing on her doorstep.
"What are you doing back here?"
"Just looking up some old friends, and I thought I would start with my sister. Aren’t you going to ask me in?"
"Err, well, oh okay, come in."
She stepped aside to let her brother into her apartment. As she closed the door and overwhelming feeling of foreboding came over her.
"So, how are you?" She asked nervously.
He was looking at things, turning papers over, and running his finger along the edge of the bookshelf.
"You've got quite a nice place here. What are you doing with your life? Are you working? Have you got a man in your life?"
"Why all the questions?"
"Just interested. You are my sister after all, and that gives me the right to wonder about you. Doesn't it?"
“No I don’t think it does. You have been out of my life for a long time now, you can’t just waltz back in like nothing happened.”
“Why not?”
"Well you’re here now, so do you want a cup of coffee?" She asked, trying not to answer any questions.
"Yeah okay, black, strong, nothing in it."
He continued to look around while she was making coffee. She came back in the room with two mugs and put them on the coffee table.
"What? No biscuits?"
She went back to the kitchen to find some biscuits. While she was away, he dropped a pill into her coffee. He sat down to drink his coffee and wait. Suzi came back into the room with a plate of biscuits. She offered him the biscuits; he took one and ate it.
He waited while she drank her coffee. Very quickly the drug started to take effect. She was feeing very strange and within a couple of minutes she couldn't move. She tried to get up but she couldn’t. She knew this was it. This was what she had been waiting for. |
