About the Book

This poetry book is a compilation of my life experience as a child growing up in the depression days of the early 1900's and beyond. I lived with my parents and a talented demanding brother, in a modest two story home on a street dominated by churches, logically named Church Street. I've included the most popular poetry from my writings and pray the reader will connect to my remembrance of the past.

My diverse poetry will take you thru my childhood experiences, nightmares and all, from an early age in the forties when I played drums five nights each week of the summer at Mickey's Thirst Parlor in Pennsylvania.

Some of my poetry is humorous, some to make a point, some dealing with good and bad domestic/international history, and some about religious belief, philosophy, love and miscellaneous things.

Readers are sure to enjoy this book.

This book is dedicated to Nancy, my wife, love and confidante, and written for our daughters Paula & Becky, and grandsons Chris & Matt.

About the Author

It was September 3rd 1929. John entered this world under the auspices of his mother, father and God. The first poetic words uttered were “Goo, goo, ma ma, da da, ma ma.” This beginning started John on the road to his diversified writing career.

Grandfather Rossbacher was an excellent shoe designer and craftsman. John’s father was a tool maker, then driven to improve his lot in life became a successful insurance broker. John’s mother, who was a nurse for his grandfather Dr. Irwin, read every book available to her and developed an interest in writing poetry. John’s Uncle Homer Potter was a well known minister, and his wife a musician. Uncle Ed had great interest in guitar. John’s wife is a pianist and a musician. These associations obviously played a varied future in Johns’ life.

A violinist in the family tree, singers, businessmen, colleges, professors, writers and musicians have educated him in many ways from a diverse German background to an interesting mix of life’s career opportunities including 2 years with the 10th div. 5th Army Band. Ultimately John studied conducting, choral and instrumental composition, musical instruments, singing, earned a Music Degree, and certifications in speech, public speaking, insurance, techniques in welding and soldering, wood turning, and awards on poetry, music, and writing, and partnered with his wife Nancy in art glass design and manufacture at their Pennsylvania Studios. Some of the many windows executed are located in Winter Haven residences, St. Mary’s Church in Belleview, Florida, and numerous locations in the northern states.

John’s diverse background/life experience represents itself in his poetry book: “Random Poetic Thoughts of Love, Life, Religion, and Irreverent Pastimes, Not necessarily in that order.”

Nancy and John presently appear weekly at the John Knox Village Lounge in Orange City, FL. on Piano, Vocals, and Jazz Harmonica.
