About the Book

The title, Dueling Sisters, refers not to the fact that they are fighting or arguing, but rather reveals the differences in their point of view and the way they perceive the world around them.  Their poetry communicates these differences.

Raised in the same household, their individual life experiences led them in different directions.  Marieta remained in Kansas; Carolyn moved to New York.  Initially they shared their poems over the telephone, bouncing ideas back and forth.  This interchange lent energy to their efforts.

Their visions run the gamut from reflection on life, to nature's beauty and grandeur to social statement.

They have fun with their writing.
