Turning to see who Will was referring to Beau laughed. "That my friend is my cousin Amy Deveraux, the most unapproachable woman in all of New Orleans."
"Will you introduce me?"
At that moment she turned and their eyes met. Will found himself looking into the most incredibly beautiful emerald green eyes he had ever seen. They slanted faintly upward at the corners, adding a hint of mystery to her face and the reflection of the candlelight made them flitter like finely cut emeralds set in iridescent pearls. A pair of astonishing black, arched eyebrows intensified the impact of those jeweled eyes.
Suddenly she smiled and the radiance of that smile was like a bright shaft of sunlight on a dark cloudy day and he knew he had lost his heart to her. Although his father had told him he had fallen in love with his mother the first time they had met, Will's logical side had never believed it possible to love someone until you knew all facets of their personality. At least that was what he had thought until just moments ago. Suddenly logic made no sense.
"Just introduce me. I'll take it from there," Will said, his eyes never leaving her.

About the Book
During the American Revolution Will's father had fought British dominance in the American colonies. At an early age Will had known he too wanted to help the young and struggling country gain its independence from England. So, after graduating from William and Mary, he joined the American army.
While on leave in New Orleans visiting his friend's family Will meets Amy Deveraux and knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. It takes him awhile to convince Amy their love for each other is strong enough to endure the sacrifices they will be facing.
When Amy accepts Will's proposal he tells her after they are married she will be moving to Virginia to live with his family. She has strong reservations about the move but to her surprise Will's family soon becomes her family. Amy's family had always had everything money could buy but it's from the love she finds with her new family she learns what it means to be truly rich. While Will is fighting for America's independence Amy copes with life as a mother and a soldier's wife.
About the Author
Reading has always been one of Connie's favorite past times. During her early school years her favorite reading material was about animals, especially horses. While in high school she began reading historical fiction and claims to have learned more history from fiction than from text books.
Shortly before retiring from her government job Connie decided to write a book of her own. She didn't know what time frame she wanted to write about but knew she wanted it to be something about the settling of early America. After much research and thought she chose to begin by writing about life during the American revolution. Besides writing Connie enjoys doing volunteer work at the animal shelter in her hometown of Austin, Texas.
While writing her first book Colonial Romance Connie got to know the characters so well she decided not to end the saga there. Hence came The Bugle's Call, about the second generation of the Black family. Watch for Texas Bound, the third book in the series about the adventures of the Black family.
