As I See It

Her vision has been so clouded as she’s walked through this valley. Her judgment has been impaired by thoughts of a love that was never meant to be. She knows what has to be done, but does she have what it takes to get it done?  She does if she trusts the Bible. “I can do all things through Jesus Christ, who strengthens me.” (Phillip. 4:13). She’s figured one thing out by going through her studies, God did not put her here. He does not tempt people to sin.  He gives what is good and perfect.⁸

            She’s still looking for answers, hoping for a solution, and praying for a reprieve. She’s fasted and prayed, she’s knelt at the altar, she’s cried out to the Father and to his Son. She’s just cried. She’s confessed to God and to her husband and found small but temporary relief.

            The stress returns as soon as she begins to prepare to see him again, when she picks a concert and buys her ticket. The ache in her gut starts again when she stares at herself in the mirror and wonders if she could ever be pretty enough to attract his attention. But everyday, she sees or hears something that reminds her of her heart’s desire. His initials appear on a license plate, his name on a sign or on an email. She actually receives an email saying he is trying to reach her, but knows that this is not the email address she’s given him. The music piped in and around the stores and the doctor’s office, though instrumental, will be something he has performed. She watches one of her favorite TV shows and hears his name spoken as one of the characters. It feels like a sucker punch.
