Volume II: Sam Loses her Mother, but She Gains her Mother's Heart

Today is such a beautiful day! The sun is shining the grass is green and look at the birds. They are just singing and chirping away. I can’t wait to see mom and dad!
As Sam walked to the house she saw an ambulance with bright red lights. Sam was so startled.
Sam saw her father sitting on the front steps with his head down. Dad what is it said Sam? Dad was silent for a while. He took a deep breath and told Sam. “Mom’s, heart stop beating.” I don’t understand daddy said Sam, mom’s heart stop beating?” Daddy you are a doctor can you do something to get mommy’s heart beating again? Pumpkin I am afraid I can’t help mommy.
Sam ran into her bedroom and sobbed and cried on her pillow. Sam pulled out her journal and wrote:
Dear Princess Pink,
My mommy’s heart has stopped. I feel so all alone. My dad is acting like he is in outer space. I am very unhappy and confused. Please help me.

About the Book
Sam is excited about going to spend time with her mom and dad, but Sam's mother's heart has stopped beating, and she is very sad that she has lost her mom. Sam writes to Princess Pink in her journal telling her about her sadness and asking for help. Princess Pink comes to the rescue as a trustworthy friend and helps Sam understand the grieving process when losing someone. Princess Pink shows Sam a way to her mother's heart.
About the Author
Shawna McGriff has a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters in School Counseling K-12. Shawna is an elementary teacher in Alabama and she has been an educator for the past 13 years. In addition, at her school Councill Elementary she is an After-School Art Club teacher and a Girls Scout Troop 124 leader. Shawna has one 4 year old son name Alex, two stepdaughters Leandra and Isabella, and two nephews Norman and Brandon who she loves and adores. Shawna lives in Helena, Alabama
