FOREWORD The poetry of Sister Aisha Othman invites us into the inner reaches of a mind and heart which feel a love for Allah Most High, so deep that she is moved to a profound realization of His influence in her life: You mended my broken heart You sent Your beloved to keep company this lonely soul You gave me beautiful patience to endure the turbulence You kept Your promise Truly with the difficulty is tremendous ease! Truly with the difficulty is tremendous ease!”
For those who are new in their journey toward nearness to Allah, or those who have not yet taken the time to search their own souls and find the spark of sincere dedication, Sister Aisha shines the light upon the path so that they may more easily find their way. They can feel more certain in their step. Indeed, her vivid descriptions of her personal journey can be cherished by the reader, tucking them away within their own mind and heart, as lovingly borrowed images and poetic expressions. These vivid images and expressions add a sense of familiarity and certainty as the reader progresses on the steep path in his or her own time and uniquely individual way. This poetess moves us by expressing her deepest dedication to the Creator and the way of life which He has ordained, and the blessings she enjoys by being “consistent and persistent in obeying Allah Most High.” In addition, Sister Aisha poetically brings the characters of the mothers of the believers to life, extolling their noble traits and reminding the reader how each one of them devoted her life to caring for the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and supporting the Islamic mission. Each poem paints a portrait of these esteemed individuals who embodied nobility and/or generosity, loyalty, assertiveness in the most diplomatic way, true surrender, completeness of womanhood, scholarliness, benevolence, beautiful patience…so much to admire and emulate! The author celebrates a way of living in which we can be alone and never be lonely; we see beauty even in the “pitch black night” or “gloomy day overwhelmed with rain clouds”; a blessing day in and day out to “feel surrounded with His presence”; to feel “soothing bursts of joy” – so we the readers can celebrate with her, and through her poetry experience for ourselves, beating through our hearts and pulsing through our veins, the hope and certainty of “a thankful, grateful slave of God.” During my breaks in between counseling sessions I often say to myself ‘let me see what Sister Aisha has for us today,’ looking forward to her message of peace that grounds us amid the hustle and bustle of daily living and working. After reading her inspiring message, I enter the next counseling session refreshed and centered. May Allah Most High bless her immensely for every word written in this inspiring book. Kamal Shaarawy

About the Author
Aisha Othman is an attorney at law, and practices in Southern California, where she resides with her three sons. Reflections Of A Wayfarer: Poetry of Islamic Excellence is her first book. She started writing poetry during her adolescence in her native Malay language. She is in the process of finishing her next book which is not titled yet.
