About the Book

This book encourages the reader to seek the face and will of God in the midst of adversity and the daily challenges of life.  Further, the reader will be led through a series of mediations, thoughts, and inspirational messages as they seek to encounter God.  Although the book was written during war and military deployment, the motivational devotions and life lessons are applicable to all.  The colorful war and deployment images throughout the book help bring the quotes, scriptures, thoughts, and prayers alive.  Additionally, the book contains commentary from Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Iraqis, and Coalition partners that adds an authentic richness to our spirituality and connection to God.  This book demonstrates the true evidence of the hand of God in our daily lives.   The chaplain’s thoughts are timely, practical, and uplifting. 

About the Author

Dr. Shon Neyland currently serves on Active Duty as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force and has over 25 years of dedicated service to the United States of America.  He has a unique perspective as he has served as an enlisted member, line officer, and as a Chaplain over his career.  Dr. Neyland enlisted in 1984 and was ordained in 1990 with the Church of God in Christ.  He was commissioned in 1991 as a Second Lieutenant (line officer) and assigned as a Missileer (Flight Commander) at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota.  After several assignments and duties, including being a Flight Commander and Chief of Faculty Development at Officer Training School, a Mobile Satellite Operations Officer, Chief of Plans and Programs, and Wing Milstar Manager (Space Operations), Dr. Neyland transferred from line officer status to the Chaplaincy in 1999.  He is currently stationed in San Antonio, Texas.  Dr. Neyland leads the largest Air Force chaplaincy program at Basic Military Training, Lackland AFB, Texas.  Further,  he provides religious support for Air Expeditionary Forces and humanitarian deployments and advises commanders on morals, ethics, and morale.  He has been deployed three times in two wars.  Dr. Neyland is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas.
