“The reason why the three of you are here is something important is missing,” Mr. Erickson started.  “The necklace of Elizabeth Elwes is missing.  The two of you were the last to be in the trophy room yesterday.”

“Missing?  So what does that have to do with the security of Gimble,” Michael asked him.

            “It has a protection spell for most of the magic world.  It’s what hides Gimble and keeps The Mirror Network running correctly.  Right now it is completely shut down as a safety precaution.  Whenever you place a protection spell on a large area, it needs to be put on an object.  The necklace of Elizabeth Elwes is the item that was chosen for this spell.  About an hour ago the protection spell was broken.  That can only happen if the necklace has had its spell removed or it is not within the city.

            The Mirror network shuts down as a safety precaution.  The only reason why most of us are here is because we were already either here to chaperone the dance or working in our offices in town.  Now we need to know what you did with the necklace.  One of you had to remove it when you were in the trophy room.”  Mr. Erickson said.  His cold accusing eyes sent chills up my spine.  “We need to know as soon as possible so the town can be safe,” he pressed.

            I was insulted at the finger pointing. I wondered what would make them think either Jenny or I would take that necklace.  I knew that Dad being there he would be able to determine if I am telling the truth.  Then again they could have thought he was covering for us because he is my father.
