About the Book

Separated from her family at a young age for her education, Hadjame meets her first love, Wassi, and this resulted in her facing many challenges. She loses him to her best friend Xissola. This is not how she expected things to turn out, and her grief and sense of betrayal, led her to focus on her education as a means of escape. Ten years on, the ghosts of her unresolved love for Wassi still pursues her everywhere she goes, but Hadjame will discover that as people grow up their dreams can become lost or changed forever. A story of courage and determination, “No-one Said It'd be easy”, is a familiar refrain of Hadjame's father, a young Angolan girl which enables the reader to identify with the various stages of her life, and learn something of African culture.

About the Author

Suzeth Mawote was born in the north of Angola in 1983, but she grew up in the capital of Angola-Luanda, where she attended primary and secondary schools, and later on at a young age went to a boarding School at The National Institute of Petroleum in Sumbe Province. Since an early age, she had a pure passion for writing. She used to be a member of the “Union of Angolan writers’’ where she had met with some of the greatest writers of the Country and learnt more skills from them. Presently she lives in Scotland where she is undertaking her university course in Geology and Petroleum Geology at the University of Aberdeen and “No-one said it'd be easy” is her debut novel.
