“AS I ROCK THE FUTURE” It's late at night I hear a cry My dreams race from my head I pick him up from his cradle He uses for his bed Every night as I hold him Thoughts run through my mind What will he be when he grows up Could he change mankind Precious moments I know I'll cherish I cannot wait to see Where he goes or what he does and what he hopes to be A Fireman that saves lives or a Judge that sets new laws A Counselor at a school Helping children with their flaws A Doctor that cures cancer A Pastor he could become Maybe just a Father like me Cradling his son He may be a Soldier Helping keep this Country free But as I Rock the Future He is all of these to me.

Michael D. Mecum has wrote poems since he was in high school. He writes of love and of life. He never thought that his poems would mean anything to anyone. His only credentials is as a Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. His life is average by others standards. His life wonderful by his own standards. A miracle gave him a son.
