He held me in his eyes for a brief moment. ''Your going to be alright.'' The angel said as he lifted my broken body into his arms. As I looked down I saw my feet leaving the ground.
I thought that I was drifting up into the heavens and that the angel was taking me there. In that moment I thought of my grandparents and how I couldn't wait to see them again. Then I thought of my father. I was finally going to see him again. I felt so happy. Its strange how in such a time of sorrow and untimely death that you can feel like you're the happiest person in the world and yet have no fear of where you are going because you know that its going to be not only indescribable but also remarkable.
My breath was getting shorter by the minute. I felt my body laying back on the ground again. As I looked around me I noticed that I was in the woods. I couldn't be certain of where I was but I knew that I was in the country because of all the trees. I could see the stars and the night time colors of the sky. I could also feel the cool air of the night on my face. Then I heard the mysterious dark angel speak again. ''Everything is going to be alright. I'm going to do something in order to save you. It's going to be very painful. Don't be afraid.'' I felt the angel's hands around me as he pulled me up into his arms. I could feel one of his hands on my back and the other one behind my head.
In that moment I felt his lips at my neck. The pain was agonizing. I felt like the side of my neck was burning. It was unlike any other pain that I had ever felt before in my life. I began to think that this was it. My life was ending and I had seen it all in a dream. All there was left to do now was to say goodbye. Goodbye mother. Goodbye sister. Goodbye. The pain was so severe that I passed out from it. I felt a stinging pain all over my body as I felt my heart slowing each time I took a breath. I began to see my grandparents and my father.
They appeared to me out of a white light. They stood there smiling at me as I started to walk toward the light. As I tried to enter the light I felt something pushing me back. I couldn't understand why I wasn't able to go into the light. I felt like I was being blocked some how. My grandparents and my father just stood there smiling back at me. I just stood there looking back at them confused.
''Why can't I step into the light?'' I asked. My dad moved forward and began to speak. ''Because your not ready sweet heart.'' Dad still looked the same. He still had dark hair and dark eyes. He was standing there in jeans and a white buttoned up shirt. ''I don't understand.'' I said with tears running down my face. Dad began to walk away back toward my grandparents. I called out to my dad many times but he never turned around to reply.
''Dad?'' I called out. ''Dad! Dad wait!'' I yelled. ''What's happening to me? Dad!'' Finally my father turned around. He looked at me and smiled. ''I love you sweet heart. Always remember that.'' Dad said. He turned back around and started walking toward the light. ''Dad?'' I called out again. Before I knew it he was gone. He vanished as soon as he stepped into the light. My grandparents were still standing outside of the light looking at me.
My grandmother began to walk toward me. I could see her snow white hair that was pinned back into a bun along with the long red dress that she had on. ''Be safe my darling.'' Grandma said as she touched my cheek. She began to walk back toward the light. Once she was in it she vanished just like my dad did. ''Grandma? Wait I don't understand!'' I said crying once again. ''What's happening?''
My grandpa was the last one left standing there. He moved toward me and began to speak. ''Elizabeth. My dear sweet child. Your life is not done yet. At least not in the world that your about to cross over into.'' I looked at my grandfather with confusion. ''Cross over?'' I asked. ''Grandpa what are you talking about?'' I was very confused. I had no idea what was going on or even what to think. ''Your not of the world of the living anymore Elizabeth and your not ready to cross over into the next world being ours.'' Grandpa explained.
''Grandpa I don't understand.'' I said still confused. ''You will in time.'' Grandpa replied. He leaned forward to kiss my forehead and then he turned around to go into the light. I could see the grey hair at the back of his head and his blue shirt as he faded away into the light. I didn't understand what exactly happened. I was so confused and scared. All I could see now was darkness around me. I thought I had entered hell and that I was going to be kept here as some sort of punishment. Its strange. I would have imagined hell being more than this.
I was standing in a room that was now pitch black. I had no company to keep but my own. I thought I was in some sort of limbo. I was sure that I was dead though. I was positive that I had passed on. Only I woke up to realize that I was wrong.
