Jeremiah 1: 4-5
Then the Word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the Womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a Prophet to the Nations.”
There are a few things that we must first consider as we delve into our scripture. God was speaking here about three distinct times in the life of Jeremiah and yes it is the same for every human being on the Earth. The three distinct times are as follows: Pre-conception, Conception and Birth with Future. God first of all spoke to Jeremiah about the fact that God knew of him even before he was conceived in the womb of his mother.
KNEW HIM:
The “knew”- spoken of in this verse does not imply that God was caught by surprise at His findings of Jeremiah. It wasn’t that God saw Jeremiah for the first time and said; “Hey, the dude can prophesy!” No, that is not what the scripture meant when it says that God knew him before the formation. The “knew” implies the fact that God decided what he should become before forming him. God knows that Jeremiah will become a prophet to the nation because He (God) planned it, and formed him in such a way that he could fill the office of the prophet, which is his call. Every call determines what their gifts are. Jeremiah was called to be a prophet because God decided it even before the union of his parents and conception; therefore God formed him according to the call during conception.
“The discovery of our unique Formation results in the discovery of our life vocation”
Self
If individuals aren’t sure of their call and gifts, it’s time they started looking within and not elsewhere, because they are formed and wired for a specific purpose. Self-discovery is actually the discovery of one’s calling. We carry with us a personality trait that may be so different from everyone else’s, and we often ask the question, “Why don’t I fit in?” I ask: “Why would you want to fit in a place that will only cause futility? Futility is when one is incapable of producing results, or simply minimal and unsatisfying results. One mistake people have made in life is filling the wrong office; an office that they were not called to, but assumed so. The reason you are created differently, with a different personality trait is because in the area of your call, a personality that you carry will be required. God has formed you to fit your call! Romans 11: 29 say that the gifts and calling of God is irrevocable. The gifts of God in your life may be hinting what your call in life is. Your gifts, personality etc are so you can fit and fill that call!
Formation in Conception
The nine months of conception is a critical and special moment in these time periods because God was literally forming Himself as a fetus in the womb of the mother. God created man in His image, and how He goes about fulfilling this is that, in every pregnancy He Himself was involved. What exactly was happening within the period of nine months? For the nine months God was putting His ingredients in the fetus
