About the Book
Madge is a humourous, poignant look at growing up in the 70's through to the nineties. It concentrates on the relationship between the author and his mother and introduces many characters along the way. It is set in Widnes, a small town south of Liverpool. The book takes us as far as Yugoslavia and not so far the Island of Jersey and Eire. It touches on the authors Lithuanian heritage with hilarious affect. If you thought Angela's Ashes and Our Kid were a good read. Then hopefully... This book is for you.
About the Author
The author is forty-one years of age and decided to write his story after the death of his father two years previous. He left school without any qualifications as such, though he was told he could have passed most of them. 'Youth is wasted on the young.' He says with a smile. He has since become a student with The Writers Bureau and is a freelance writer earning a small amount of money from articles and letters. His favourite author is Frank Mccort and credits him for this book after reading Angela's Ashes. Mccort once wrote... 'If I can do it, anyone can.' So he did.
