Passing the Time
Antie, Grassy and Skippy and the Adventures into the Woods
Antie and Grassy slipped out of the back pack that Skippy had thrown on his classroom floor. Antie and Grassy did a ‘high five’ and said they were going to be action figures together to be saved and get back to Texasa.
Antie thought of himself more in line with Atom Ant, though he wanted to be Superman since his favorite show was Smallville.
Grassy thought of himself more as Astro Boy, though his favorite show was ALF.
The critter duo started to creepy crawl along the classroom floor. There was a door only a few feet away, which would be a good escape route. Antie spotted some trees outside though the window, and knew that his cousins had an ant hill just this side of Hometown Middle School.
Grassy was just hopping along, with Antie on his leg, when something creepy was spotted! Something not expected at all lay in their path to freedom, a ROACH.
Roaches were not high on Antie’s top ten critters’s to take to lunch bunch. Grassy was not fond of roaches, either. Had it not been roaches that had moved into one of Antie’s abandoned ant beds and acted as though they own the joint!
Antie and Grassy spy Skippy at his desk. The class was taking a test, the last day of school. Skippy had his lunch kit on the floor by his blue shoes still affixed to his feet. The lunch kit might be a safe refuge from the ROACH, that had not yet seen Antie and Grassy.
Backyard Blue Jay Birdy
Birdy had a nest that once belonged to another bird. The other bird had migrated to Canada and had taken up residence with his bride ‘Beaky Boo crow’ outside of Toronto. Birdy didn’t expect his old migratory acquaintance to return and took the ‘For Rent’ sign off the bird nest and sent his old acquaintance a bag of bird seed for the vacant nest via his buddy, Pige the pigeon.
Birdy was hoping his birdie buddy Belly the Beaky Crow would just sell off the nest to Birdy.
Birdy had as his bride of several years, Birdella. Birdella was the ‘best catch’ in the oaks, Birdy always would say. Birdella was raised in a live oak tree, just west of Birdy’s backyard. Birdy’s eyes spotted Birdella one sunny day at a thousand feet in the air.
For Birdy, it was love at first flight.
The Perils of Pets
‘Let loose of our pet HAMEY,
HAMEY is no dinner feast,
BERNIE-BURNICE go to your cat food box, and get your cat food treats!”
Yelled daddy to the cat named BERNIE-BURNICE in
The outside backyard of the hot Houston summer heat.
HAMEY was dropped and started to quickly run,
HAMEY was not having any kind of HAMEY fun!
BERNIE-BURNICE decided not to daddy mind,
And so quickly daddy knew the kitty was not very HAMEY kind.
Again daddy said at the top of his lungs, to the kitty cat,
“Free HAMEY right here or daddy will soon lunge!”
‘Free HAMEY now”. If BERNIE-BURNICE did not do it quick,
There is always the kitty cat pound, so stop dripping at the tongue, rele
