About the Book

I wrote “Adventure Melons” when I was living in Queensland, Australia. There, I found the inspiration and the relaxation to write my first book. We went to the Chinchilla Melon Festival which is held every two years in the town of Chinchilla, being also called “The Melon Capital of Australia,” and the idea of the book grew. Some days after this, the Adventure Melons started to take shape. The Characters: Walter, Pete, Percy and Peanut, and some of the antics and mischief are made up out of some of the memories of my own children when they were small, and the adventures they had as they played and sometimes squabbled. This turns to laughter to which I added some of my own humor. I had great encouragement from Reinhold, my husband, and it is now a pleasure seeing my grandchildren being interested in reading this book. I will be pleased if you enjoy reading this book as well.

About the Author

Denise A Kraus is 53 years old, married to Reinhold and mum of three sons Mark, Stephen and Philip. She is also a Nana to three beautiful grandchildren Sophie 7, William 5 and Phoebe. She was born a town called Wirksworth, Derbyshire. She did all her schooling there and left in 1988. Denise has travelled with her husband through the world, and whilst being for a longer stretch of time in Australia where her husband was working as a Site Manager on one of Australia‘s new power stations, “Kogan Creek” in Queensland, she decided that she would fill an ambition and write a children’s book. It was something she had thought about for a very long time. She sat one afternoon and the story started to form whilst she thought of the soon to be new arrival, and of her sons and the tricks that they got up to, and all the fun coming up all over again. She had the time, the peace and the inspiration, and that’s when ADVENTURE MELONS were born. The characters in the book are created from imagination that was inspired by the fact that they were living in a little town called Chinchilla Queensland, which is the “Melon Capital” and to remember their time there and the friends they made. Some of the antics are based round what her children did when they were little, and things that have happened over the years. Parents will see that the book have shown that an adventure book can still make good reading for children without violence, being the main topic. Readers will find the book amusing and funny! A book that shows consequences for actions without going over the top.
