The Wandmaker's Burden

At the beginning of the 15^th day of the Dark Period, Yannuvia called the community together. Holding the Knock Wand in his right hand, the Wandmaker walked to the geodesic dome that surrounded the Central Sphere, touched the door, and said “cow vine cool ledge.” The door opened, and they entered.

The Wandmaker emptied his right hand, kept the Master Wand in his left, walked to the center of the dome, touched his spell book the Gifts of Andreas to the People of the Forest with the red and blue tipped wand, and said, “Hairy true man.”

The Central Sphere drifted downward. At the moment the six-foot diameter sphere began to move, the 88 smaller stones froze in their orbits. The six-foot diameter sphere approached Yannuvia and stopped with its center four feet from the floor and also four feet from the Spellweaver. Slowly the triumvirate of runes on the Central Sphere faded. The surface of the sphere changed to a brilliant reflecting surface. The Wandmaker’s image appeared on the Central Sphere and eighty-eight smaller stones. Slowly Yannuvia’s visage disappeared and the trio of runes reappeared on all 89 stones. At the exact moment the runes reappeared, another wand appeared in Yannuvia’s right hand. One of thirteen stones that shared an orbit of 48-foot diameter eerily floated from its orbit. The little stone moved toward the Wandmaker’s right hand, where he held the new featureless wand. Yannuvia placed the wand in his pocket, extended his hand, and grasped the small spherical stone. The stone softened and meld to the shape of his hand. The Wandmaker held a Stone of Lightning. Yannuvia released the stone, which regained its spherical shape and eerily hovered near his right hand. Next he removed the new wand from his pocket and held it in his right hand. Very small runes briefly appeared on the second wand.
