About the Book
Election 2008: A Conversation in Heaven is in the format of a 3-Act play which takes place in heaven on election night 2008. Four individuals end up together awaiting the election results: President John Kennedy, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Senator Robert Kennedy. All appear to have a vested interest in the results of the election and the possibility of a first Black president. By Act III, another historical and unexpected Visitor arrives. Initially, Malcolm X and Dr. King have arranged to spend the evening together, until they have a surprise visit by the Kennedy brothers, who were hoping to surprise Dr. King. Philosophical and other conflicts arise and the past is revisited while the future is given new hope. An exploration of what it would mean to have a Black president is discussed. The discussion is often lively, heated, compassionate, and humorous.
