About the Book

The book is a novel about the consequences of a large increase in fees imposed on students by the administration of the University of California as a result of severe cuts in funding by the State Legislature. Thousands of students demonstrate against the fee hike. Also other forms of protest take place, such as students blocking the entrances to the administration building. The main emphasis is on the role of a few students in leading the protests and a telling of their love affairs.
