About the Book
This is a collection of short stories told from the point of a child as in “Ofara”. There are events from my childhood which I brought in to help show how life was for a child growing up in Nigeria (Same, Moon and Sun). Also the expectations from the standpoint of a parent and how education was a big part of our lives (Our Role Model). There are also events that tie a village together, such as in the story of The True Ada. Th ere is the mixture of what I see here in America with what was back home, as in Ready for School. All in all it is the conections that make us who we are or aspire to be.
About the Author
Susan was born in Enugu, Nigeria, where she recollected these stories from her childhood surrounded by loving family. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in the fall of 1990. She has lived in Ohio with her husband and two children. Learn about life in Nigeria by reading these stories. Based on the author's true experiences mixed with some fiction characters in order to either teach a lesson or introduce a new way of seeing different topics. She brings her wit and common sense writing style to relate these events. You'll enjoy reading about generations living together, families looking out for one another, Nigerian traditions of gatherings, dancing, schooling, and assigning names. You will laugh and cry while identifying with these events that are so common to all of us but seen in a different way because of her culture.
