I lay in bed listening to the morning alarm play to itself thinking, I should get up but trying to get my body to move from under the warm duvet was
another matter. Why is it you feel more tired when you know you have to work, but when you are off you are wide awake? I should have got up an hour
earlier to go into work to do some overtime, but the thought of that did not appeal so I stayed in bed. I looked over at the clock It was 0515am,
feeling like the middle of the night still. Eventually Aaron turned the alarm off got up, threw on his dressing gown and went downstairs to put the
kettle on. No words had been exchanged between us at this point, but that was nothing unusual as it takes me a while to come round in a morning. Still
trying to find the motivation to move, but kept thinking just another couple of minutes.
On his way back upstairs Aaron went into the bathroom turned on the shower to get it warmed up before jumping in. I was still laying there five minutes
had passed when I heard a loud noise come from the bathroom. The only way to describe the sound was like someone throwing plastic bottles in the bath
very loudly. Shouting to Aaron to ask if all was ok, no reply I shouted again still no reply by now feeling really hot, I jumped out of bed ran into
the bathroom as instinct told me something wasn’t right. On opening the door I found Aaron lying in the bath, shower curtain pulled from the rail his
head near the taps, making this dreadful noise that I can’t describe but it’s a noise that will haunt me forever. The shower was still running, steam
was building up and I just froze for a split second. As he lay there unconscious I could hear myself screaming at him to wake up but all I could hear
was my heart pounding through my chest getting louder and louder.
