About the Book

From 1942 until 2008 Herbert Palfrey has written poetry in praise of Jesus; it is his hope that purchasers of his book will enjoy, take comfort and feel as happy reading them, as he has in writing them.

About the Author

W Herbert G Palfrey was born on 19 May 1916 at Spaxton, Somerset. He married Violet May Collard at Chedzoy on 18 July 1936. Violet left for Heaven on 25 November 2002. Herbert served with the R.A.M.C. for 6 years during the war in London, France, Germany, North Africa and Palestine, leaving as W S Sergeant. Life since the war was spent with the Western National Omnibus Company, retiring on 18 May 1980. He was brought up attending the King Street Methodist Church in Bridgwater, Somerset and became a Local Preacher; he conducted his first service at Ashcott Methodist Chapel during October 1929 and served on the Bridgwater Plan for many years. During December 1974 he was promoted to D.T.S and also over the Seaton Depot. From 1959 to 1975 he was Lay Pastor of the Congregational Chapel at Stawell, working also with the Church of England at Moorlinch for the Healing Meetings. In 1975 Herbert became a member of Colyford Chapel and served on the Sidmouth and Bridport circuit. He taught Religious Education at King Alfred Private School for Boys, was Secretary of the Bridgwater Youth Leaders Association and was Captain of the 2nd Bridgwater Company of the Boys' Brigade. In 1962 Herbert was presented to Princess Alexandra for his service to the Youth of the area. Herbert also served on the Bridgwater Borough Council. Now residing in Seaton, Devon, Herbert is enjoying a relaxing life with his devoted son, Jonathan.
