Years ago there used to be a thing called a ringer. A ringer was considered someone who was already a professional where his competitors were amateurs. In other words, an amateur boxing competition should only have amateur boxers in it. What would happen is people who were professional boxers would enter amateur competitions and win. They were considered ringers. This continues today. There are people who are going into difficult endeavors tend to study, practice at whatever they do before they go and start that particular activity. Just like many of the Tuskegee airmen became private pilots before they went and applied to the program. Some of them were even instructor pilots before they applied. This enabled them to have the greatest chance of success when applying to the program. Much less famous my squad leader did 3 years of engineering education before entering West Point. So you want to be someone who achieves academic excellence because they've had the courses before in high school, prep school, community college, or four-year college. Even if they have taken the courses as an audit which means that you take courses for no college credit. But the key is to keep the old test and any other study material that will be beneficial, and memorize it completely to the point where you can reproduce each test without looking at it and understand why the problems are done the way they are.
This book was written to even the playing field, and to help those with the desire to obtain the ability to go to and complete the best academic programs in the country that you want to attend. It may take more work and or more resources but it can be done. Essentially it takes learning the course work before you go to the program just as some of the Tuskegee airmen knew how to fly before they applied to the program, Just as Benjamin O Davis went to college before he attended West Point to become the first Black graduate of the US Military Academy in the 20th century. Or General Hal Moore of the First Air Cavalry fame went to George Washington University before attending West Point.
This brings me to my Black Star Man (Person) Initiative (Beat the Dean!!). At the military academies there is an honor designation among cadets. Those in the top 5% of the class are designated star men/women/people. These cadets where gold stars on their collars/lapels/pockets (not the stap stars). I would like to make Black Star Men a common sight rather than a rarity. The way to do that is to have them adequately/over prepared for entrance into the academic programs. In other words before going to the academy study electrical engineering at a community college. Most community colleges that have engineering programs, and the courses that you should include are calculus, chemistry, physics, and engineering. You will also need to take one or two English courses because you need to know how to write essays, as well express yourself. Take a foreign language that will help you to know the one you want to take. Taking these courses and learning them like the back of your hand will free up
