To enslave and colonize the human mind and body for centuries on end, as black Africa has been under the perpetual domination of foreign or alien peoples and cultures not only is anomaly, but also barbaric, inhuman, abusive, very ruthlessly oppressive, destructive and gross heinous crimes against humanity. For even black African folktales, myths, mysteries, ontology, and numerous other works of mind, thought and thought systems of black Africa had not only been neglected but also subjected to constant abuse, intensive destructive obstruction and obfuscation for perpetual underdevelopment, outright condition of deprivation, misery, helplessness, dependency, and what have you! Read attentively this Mandinka folktale for a starter. And if you are already sufficiently as familiar with black African stories, this folktale [story] not only would whet and sharpen your mind, heart and thus appetite for more, but also consolidate the bedrock [rock solid] foundation of your unbiased thought about black Africa. This story is only a tiny fraction from the mighty sea of knowledge planted in the free flowing black African system of thought and practice. For incessant conflicts of cultures – particularly thereof as between Christian West [EuropeanEuroAmerican] and Islamic East of the modern [Middle East Semitic] continue to use black Africa a battle ground between them. The net result thereof being that black Africa becomes the scene and actual theatre of the ensuing battles between them since the very early dawn of civilization! The Mighty Python can be an eye-opener for you! For it would convince and entice or motivate you to read black African stories, ontology, mythology, mystery, history, and other such fountain sources of intellectual activities. Not only to read, but also reading all black African intellectual products with open mind, rather than reading them with preconception. For centuries black African stories, including folktales and the like, were constant object of scorn and derision of the world! This situation was being nurtured, created, propagated and promoted by EuropeanEuroAmerican and Semitic rulership and scholarship! That practice is not being brought to a halt yet! As can be imagined, black African intellectual works and inventions were, in the process of that futile and barren or fruitless battle between the two said cultures and civilizations, subjected to massive theft and robbery. Even black African monotheistic religious system of thought and practice, as we know them today, were object of transliteration and translation by the both said camps of the West and East in the process referred to. About the Book
The Mighty Python [Saaba MiniYang Ba] is the title of one of the best known Mandinka Folktale [story]. The story is about a young beautiful princess. The princess was beautiful, highly intelligent, well educated, well-mannered and well-behaved. The young princess not only was truly beautiful, highly intelligent, well educated, as well as well mannered and well behaved, but also highly sophisticated and truly popular throughout the subregions of the black African continent. But the princess was not yet married. All her age-mates were already married and with own family. The parents of the princess were getting worried because they too want their beloved daughter to get married. But the princess had rather an unusual precondition for a husband, for she said that she marry only a perfect man. Thus looking for, and awaiting a perfect man for a husband was the only hard reason why the princess was almost becoming the only spinster in the entire subregions of the continent called black Africa. The story of that princess, not only awaiting but also struggling hard and even harder looking for a perfect man [called Ke-kemperin-ngo in Mandinka] for husband is the core object of this folktale [story].
About the Author
Mamadou Seku Janneh received his formal [conventional] education beginning from Al-Azhar – prior to that he had earlier received his traditional [informal] education in his native and ancestral motherland the Gambia. The so-called traditional [informal] education of his is thus anterior to his formal [conventional] education. He attended the Al-Azhar Foreign Islamic Mission Institute of Cairo, Egypt, from which he obtained his Primary, Preparatory and Secondary Education. On completion of his Secondary Education therewith obtaining his General Certificate of Education [GCE] from the same Institute of Al-Azhar of Cairo Egypt, he followed a degree course of Mundane Law and Sharia at the Dual Faculty of Law and Sharia of the University of Al Azhar of Cairo, Egypt, obtaining a Dual Law Degree [License of LLB]; He next obtained Certificates in Private and Public International Laws from the Free University [UF] of Berlin of the Berlin West of the then West Germany. Then he obtained a Doctorandus Degree [Drs] in Law and International Relations from the University of Amsterdam [UvA], the Netherlands, then finally a PhD Study Programme with Leiden University [the Netherlands] completing it in 1995 with a doctoral thesis [of dissertation] entitled “African Concept of Human Rights as Reflected in the Banjul African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights” with the subtitle: “Meaning of the Text of the Banjul African Charter on Humana and Peoples’ Rights…” Since then this author continues to be passionately fully engaged in researching, writing and teaching and has authored a number of fiction and academic scholastic works and other such materials awaiting publication…
