About the Book

This book is written to inspire people from all walks of life. To bring love, loss, pain, happiness, empowerment, and inspiration into light. To share the power of words, some words are a comfort to some, and some words are revealing for others. Words are extremely powerful and can cause so many emotions and actions. This book is best discribed in this poem:

I keep trying to lay out all of
my expressions and feelings
with out trying to be, too revealing
and with trying to be, too concealing
and as I pull back each layer of skin
peelings
another layer appears
concealing my anger
love and fears
blood rolling over each pain
even as the needle penetrates the vein
the lines are not clear
but the skin is left stained
And a message is sent to the brain
As its trying to push back the memories
The lies I created
In attempt to deceive
Living in the world of make believe
Even though I’m speaking
its not truly describing the pain
So I scream louder thing that you can now hear me
but instead of it the words coming out clear
In the air they are crisp sounds of despair
heart needed to repair
holding back words trying not to swear
Not to ignite a fire
I’m not sure that’s there
Unsure if I should share
If I could repair
The damage that is done here
concealed
not revealed
and not truly healed, but Healing
I pull back this layer of Skin
and let You in
Thick Skin

About the Author

Please allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Ameerah A. Rahman I was born and raised Muslim and lived all over the USA. I had the great fortune to live amongst many different Muslim, and People of many religions, and Cultures.I have learned a lot from my teachers and community. My life experience has taken me far and has shown me how to live a productive and positive life in this society.

I have recently written 2 books, published July 2010. A children’s book “Goodnight Joy” and an young Adult Novel based on Muslim characters “The Unveiled” This book was written to empower the youth and also to restore faith in Their hearts, to also help them better understand that, with Faith and Hope in God, we can make it through situation and become extraordinary leaders!

My journey in the poetic world of rythm, and ryhme. The freedom of expression has been amazing. Intwined in thought of the beauty of life, and touched by the beauty of other peoples lives. Poetry is as breathing, and as smooth as cream, but layered with so many skins of thought, memory, history, and expression. Poetry peels back layers of thoughts and memories of life, and reveals all aspects of your being. whether its a part of history, some one elses love, hope, faith or pain, poetry is an expression of life. Poetry is a story of someones life being told, with power, and freedom of expression. The very thing that makes you, who you are exposed and shared in front of the entire world, but yet concealed with in yourself.

I have been inspired to write by so many people. My family, Friends and Associates. My truest and most faithful Inspiration is Poetry itself and this is why....

When Poetry fell in love with me:

It..was not love at first sight you see

I was wild and untamed

and poetry didn’t know what to do with me

I wasn't like the norm

I was unable to conform

but I was a walking, talking book

so poetry stopped and took another look

Poetry wasn't sure if I could write.. to his hook

but I.. proved him wrong and came with lyrics

profound and strong

step out in the spot light

throwing lyrics like I was on fight night

then I came with the lyrics of the heart

showing the craftiness of my new found art

with one stroke

of the pen

Poetry became my new found friend

speaking of Love, Hope, and faith

in my hands Poetry felt safe

Poetry was swift and wise

and I was smart

not one day did we spend apart

because I....

Stole Poetry heart
