About the Book

A Jeffrey family genealogy was compiled by Mrs. Clarence Jeffrey Jr. of Webster, NH in 1974 titled The Jeffrey Family of Putney and Westminister, VT, also Walpole, NH originating in Canada. The early records of the attached data have been taken from that genealogy. The data has been updated and corrected through the years and is believed to be an accurate record of the Jeffrey lineage.

About the Author

Roy William Jeffrey is a member of the eighth generation. He was born in Walpole, NH on May 22, 1923, the son of George William Jeffrey, Lewis Joseph Jeffrey, Lewis Jeffrey, Eusebe (Uzeb) Jeffrey, Francois Southiere Dit LaGiroflee, Jean Southiere Dit LaGiroflee and Francois Southiere Dit LaGiroflee. He attended the Walpole Schools and graduated from Walpole Academy. He attended Keene Teachers College for three semesters before entering the military. A veteran of World War II US Navy, he served as a medical technician in the United States Marines. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He worked seven years as Controller of Exeter Manufacturing Company, Exeter, NH followed by twenty-five years at Western Electric Company, North Andover, MA where he served as cost accountant supervisor. After retiring from Western Electric, he worked part time as Controller for Plaistow Cooperative Bank, Plaistow, NH. In 2004 he published his autobiography, “My Story and Other Family Memories.” He married Carolyn Palmer Lang in 1946. They had two sons, Wayne Roy and Brian Lang. Carolyn passed away in June, 2011. Roy resides in Plaistow, NH.
