I Surrender
Love is complicated, sometimes it seems outdated. Though we try to stop it, it continues unabated. It ends in pain, chaos so neatly arranged. So we guard our hearts and flee from change. Afraid to love again, terrified to ever let you in. How would it be different from the way its always been?
There are a thousand tears between us; With ten million fears that eat us. Caught up in statistics, the way we both have failed. Before our love is allowed to breath we find its been impaled. To avoid the disaster from pursuing the “happily ever after”; I'm stuck with all the question that I could never ask her.
Why can it not be simple, just fall into our hands? If love is all we need then I just do not understand. Am I lacking in some area, do I need to show you more? Perhaps your love is dormant and needs to be restored. I've given you my heart in hopes you'd follow through. I'd rather die a thousand deaths than live one life without you. Never would I hurt you or lead your soul astray. I promised that I'd love you and that's still true today. I have no shinning armor, nor have I any horse, But before you shut me out or choose another course; Please know how much I love you and what I would surrender To be the one you love and not just some pretender. Real Love I can write about love in ways you wont believe. This pen starts to flow and the rest is history. I can capture the emotions, the one you cant obtain; Confine them to this paper, so thoroughly explained. The mysteries of love are frozen here in verse. What you call I blessing I refer to as a curse. The words I write, they haunt me; overtake my mind. Through poetry past and present are fatally combined. Trapped within the wording, like a screenplay I've designed; I'm a prisoner to the ink, I'm lost between the lines. So tonight I'll take this pen and redirect its course. Focus on a different love of the highest source. Look outside your window, skies so blue and clear. Ask yourself the question, “Why are we even here?” Our lives were not required, there never was a law. The love Jehovah showed still leaves me here in awe. He formed this earth from nothing but included everything. How can we but worship Him, our Father and our King? But the riddles still expanding, we've not yet reached the end. There lies ahead a feast we've been invited to attend. A land of milk and honey, where tears and pain are not. Your smiles will abound, your pains will be forgot. The devil and his forces, no more harm will they bring. In all His holy mountain His praises we shall sing. So when you think of love think of our loving God. Stay within the comfort of His staff and His rod. Jehovah the Supreme One, we must declare His name; Thank Him for Christ Jesus and submit unto his reign. Fear not tomorrow, carry on now undeterred. Jehovah will provide if we listen to His word.

About the Author
Erick Pasquale Forsythe was born in Daytona Beach, Florida but now lives in Clarkesville, Georgia. He first started writing poetry in 1995 while living in Hohenwald, Tennessee. He is the father of two beautiful daughters; Stefany Carissa Forsythe and Abbigail Jane Forsythe. Erick received the poetic torch from his father, Pasquale William Forsythe, who himself is also a well accomplished writer. Erick uses poetry as both a portal to the past and a gateway to the future. Sometimes the past simply cannot be forgotten. Therefore he chooses to memorialize it through the written word. Likewise the future can at times be so within reach yet so unattainable that the only way to control it is by confining it to paper through his pen. Poetry is for Erick what therapy is for most others. It is a channel through which the deepest of emotions, struggles, joys, regrets, hopes, dreams and fears are all expressed without prejudice or judgment. For Erick, poetry equals existence. Erick Pasquale Forsythe finds life to be complete when he is able to express himself through poetry and then share the results with friends, family and anyone else who may benefit from it. He does not write for fortune or fame, he writes because it is his love and his passion. These are the markings of a true poet; one that writes to touch and be felt rather than to be seen or praised.
