About the Book

El Blanco has tried to capture some of the 21st century aspects of the region based on his observation while living in West Texas. He would have to say that the Rock House Fire of 2011 was the most inspiring event to date. (The Devil Came To Texas). He fell in love with the people, places and history of this region and hope to continue writing about it.

About the Author

El Blanco is the second child of sharecropping rice farmers from Southwest Louisiana. At five years old he was relocated from that region to just outside of New Orleans. He volunteered for military service at 17 years of age in 1969. He lived in West Germany from June of 1970 to December of 1973. He spent most of his life in the Gulf Coast region of the US and have lived on or visited the East Coast as far north as Maine he also travels to Mexico from time to time. He once studied music composition and history with the hopes of becoming a song writer in the 70s. He moved to Austin Texas because of it however this did not pan out for him mostly due to his own shortcomings. He moved to West Texas from Louisiana recently for a change in lifestyle which inspired him to start writing again. He decided rather than writing songs that he would try his hand at poetry and witticisms. He would like to think that his style is that of a layman's perspective. He is inspired by the local people and places here which he is sure have inspired writers of all types before him. He would also like to think that his travels and exposure to people and places of many varieties has broadened his mind to where He is capable of writing intelligently about things that inspire him. He feels that his need to write comes from his inner need to help people. He knows that his style is very straight forward and abrasive at times. It most probably stems from his very practical outlook on life. He was raised to deal with the realities of life first. It is his opinion that compassion is best served on a plate of reality, not emotion. He lives in Fort Davis Texas, a bustling metropolis of approximately 1100 people. A small town that most people in America is not aware of. It is located in the Davis Mountains thirty five miles south of I-10 in West Texas. We are a "Mile High City" much like Denver, but not as populated. He spends most of his time helping a friend with a buy all sell all business. (Sterling Gold). He spends time helping at the local library.
