"I'm so glad you came Kathie," she told her.
"I didn't have much of a choice," Kathie replied.
"I know, I told Bill to bring you regardless," she said as she wiped her eyes.
"I'm so thankful you're all right," Kathie told her.
She led Kathie over to the bed where her husband lay watching them. He was a middle-aged man with brown hair graying at the temples.
"Here is is Taddeus, this is the girl that saved us," she told him.
"Hi Kathie, I've heard every little detail more than once. The Granola bar was very good by the way," he said as he smiled.
Kathie nodded her head as tears stung her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She had not expected any of this. This was far more heart touching than she figured it would be.
"You did everything you could to save us and you deserve to be grandly rewarded," Thaddeus told her.
"I didn't expect to be rewarded. I did what anyone else would have done," Kathie replied.
"That's where you're wrong. You rode a horse hard to get to us sleeping on the ground at night without a blanket. You gave everything you had to eat to us and you went hungry. That is very commendable I think," Thaddeus told her. "Don't you think we know who you are?"
"I don't know," Kathie uttered.
"Well we do Kathie. We know about your Dad, your mother, and why you left home. We know about your uncle. We know all about you Kathie," he told her.

About the Book
On her next rescue mission she rode a horse two days to get to a airplane wreck. She rescued the lieutenant governor Thaddeus McCorkin, his wife Helen, and their three girls. Helen aided Kathie in everything so she could go on rescue missions.
Her third rescue mission was to a earthquake scene. She rescued a boy and a girl from down in a crack in the ground. Kathie could not find the children’s parents. When the children came out of their state of shock they told Kathie what happened to their parents. When no one spoke for the children Helen made sure Kathie was able to adopt them.
When Kathie graduated from high school Helen sent her to Search and Rescue school in California. When Kathie graduated from this school Helen gave her a specially trained dog for her own. The next rescue mission she went on she took her new dog, Lady. Kathie loved what she was doing helping people on her missions. She was dedicated to this line of work.

I was born in Billings, Montana and raised east of there. My wife Martha and I live in the country near Laurinburg, North Carolina. I’ve published three books already: Hagon’s Bluff, A Nursemaid’s Dream, and The Hill People. I hope this book inspires young people’s lives of today’s times.
