Matt stood at the sidewalk of the park opposite the White House waiting for the man who claimed to know about his father’s fate. Because money was involved, he started to convince himself that the whole thing was a setup, but he had to see it through, especially because the man had mentioned the recorder and the plane. It all seemed like a movie to Matt, some story that was happening to him that just couldn’t be real. But within a few minutes, Matt was looking down Pennsylvania Avenue at a man in a beige coat who was about a hundred feet away walking toward him. He was obviously nervous in his behavior, looking side to side as if he thought he was being followed. The man then saw Matt and his pace quickened to reach him. The man put on a crooked smile when he recognized Taggart. Then the man abruptly stopped at the corner of the street to wait for the traffic to pass. As the light changed, the man disappeared as a crowd as pedestrians crossed the street from the other direction and passed in front of him. As the crowd thinned, Matt saw the man again, but this time he was on his knees, holding his stomach. His smile was gone. His eyes were now wide with fear. Matt could see the man look to his midsection and then up again to Taggart. Then Taggart saw the blood.

About the Book
In Chain of Custody, Matt Taggart is a hard working young associate attorney at a prestigious Washington, D.C. litigation firm. He is married with a one year old daughter. Matt’s day to day life is unremarkable until his father, a U.S. Senator, is killed in a small plane crash. Was his death a suicide or was he killed? Assisted by a woman investigator from the National Transportation and Safety Bureau, Matt begins his quest to learn the reason for his father’s death. During his investigation, Matt finds himself drawn into the corrupt world of defense contractors and the inter-workings of the Pentagon. As Matt gets closer to the answer, Matt must balance the work of his law firm, the ethical dilemmas of defending a large pharmaceutical company in a wrongful death case and his feelings for his wife as he becomes emotionally closer to the woman that is sharing his adventure. Throughout the story the reader is pressed to answer some questions. What would you do if a death was ruled to be a suicide but you didn’t believe the report? How hard would you look to find the truth? What would you do if you discovered a lie? Would your answer change if along the way anyone who knew the truth ended up dead?
About the Author
After almost 25 years of practicing law, Scott I. Zucker has joined the ranks of other seasoned lawyers who have turned their legal writing skills into the world of fiction writing. In his first book Chain of Custody, Scott has entered the stage of political espionage and criminal investigation. Scott is a partner in a boutique law firm in Atlanta, Georgia where he specializes in commercial litigation representing companies througout the country. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and the George Washington University School of Law. He is married with two children.
