With the little strength he had, Thomas told us he wanted to go camping one last time. “Consider this my dying wish and honor it, please?” Later that night Thomas began to use the bucket more frequently than he had been. He said he had one last thing he wanted. He told Chris he wanted to sit on his lap and have Chris sing his favorite song to him. They looked into each other’s eyes as Chris started to sing “I see trees of green, red roses too”. We all knew what that song was. When Chris got to the part that says “They’re really sayin’ I love you”, Thomas forced out the words to Chris. “I love you” and with that Thomas closed his eyes and drew his last breath. Thomas got everything he wanted in his final days and hours. We could see Chris just sitting there rocking Thomas’ lifeless body.

About the Book
Back in the Day 2: The College Years continues the journey of Mike, Kirk, Kyle and Philip as they enter college and embark on a new world outside of the home they left behind in Missouri. It shows how these teens learned on their own how to mature and grow into decent caring people. They had their moments when their relationships were tested and how they overcame tragedy all while allowing their love to grow and flourish. It also shows how their love reached out and brought their families closer together and to unite as one family. Many have said "family life was not like that in the 1970's", my only response was "But, you didn't personally know ever family. I knew a couple of families that were very supportive of their gay sons and daughters back then" It truly is amazing what the unconditional love of family can conquer and overcome.
About the Author
When I look back at when I first started writing, I did it for the sole purpose of therapy to help me overcome my depression. It allowed me to take myself to a place where I felt safe and secure. Never did I think that my “therapy” would evolve and grow into a book, let alone have that book turn into a second book. The characters I wrote about allowed me to believe that one day I could be accepted for who I was and what I could achieve in my life.
