My name is Betsy and Bill is my brother. Springtime is here and we’re planting our garden. We dig little holes and put in small seeds. Soon we’ll have flowers, flowers from seeds. We put the packets next to the seeds. When the flowers grow up, we’ll know their names. All of the seeds will be safe in the ground. We touch them with love, my brother and I. God sends the sunshine to warm up the ground. We bring the water and sprinkle each one. When we forget, God brings the rain. God tells the seeds to shoot down some roots. When we’re not looking, God sends some sprouts. Day after day, He makes the sprouts grow. Bigger and bigger and bigger they get. I do not know how God does it all! Our plants are all grown up, and now they have buds. What comes from the buds, we will soon see.

About the Author
Beverly Wirth holds a BFA in design and an MFA in illustration from RISD/Syracuse University. Her childhood gardening experiences have flowered into fifty years of exhibits and commissions for churches and schools internationally. Wirth and her husband, Bradford, are parents to two and grandparents to five. They divide their time between central New York and Florida.
