The story starts at a small town in southern Philippines, progresses to Manila, then to Nigeria where most of the story takes place. and ends.


About the Author

The author is retired and a widow, has three married children and five young grandchildren. She had lived and worked in New York from 1985 to 2007, then moved to Huntley, Illinois where she now resides in Del Webb, Sun City.

She had worked in Nigeria, West Africa as an Education Officer under contract with the Federal Ministry of Education from 1975 to 1984. She had produced a two-volume magazine while in that West African nation.

She has written poems, essays and a memoir, but this is her first time to be published. She is currently working on the second part of her memoir and on another novel.(fiction).

Lydia Bongcaron Wade was born in Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental, Philippines on June 19, 1938. Present address: 13299 Cedar Crest Lane, Del Webb, Sun City, Huntley, Ilinois.60142.

Has 3 adult children, Paz Cielo Robancho daughter, Clyde B. Amar and Glynn Amar Adam, sons. Has 5 grandchildren: Stephanie, 15, Alexandra, 13, Gabriella 14, Olivia 4 and Brian 7 months old

Educational Qualification and Background:

Graduated from Philippine Normal University, Manila, Philippines with the following degrees:

ETCHE (Elementary Teachers' Certificate, with specialization in Home Economics) 1962

BSEHE (Bachelor of Science in Education, Home Economics Major) 1968

MAHE (Master of Arts in Home Economics) 1972

Taught in the Philippines from 1962-1975 (13 years)

Worked in Nigeria, West Africa as Contract Education Officer from 1975-1984 (9 years)

Worked at 4 Senior Centers funded by the Department for the Aging, New York for 18 years, as Case Manager, Entitlement Specialist/Social Worker, Food Nutrition Lecturer and ESL (English As A Second Language) teacher, 1989-2007.

Widow, Retired in 2007.

Moved to Del Webb, Sun City, a retirement community located in suburban Chicago, Illinois. after husband dies in 2007, from Queens, New York.
