Geritol's Advertisement
Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you

Geritol's ad says, "Complete for what's in it, special for what's not."
The same slogan could be appied to the Bible. The Bible is complete, affirming that we are all sinners and telling of God's provision so everyone can be saved. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
It states the only way of salvation, "Jesus amswered. "I am the way amd the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
It tells you the way you should conduct your life. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).
The Bible is also special for what it does not say. It does not say you need to or can earn your way to heaven. It is a free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast."
The Bible tells you that you cannot add to or substract from God's Word to match your lifestyle. "See that you do all I command you, do not add to it or take away from it" (Deuteronomy 12:32).
Even though God's Word was written many years ago, it hasn't changed and will never change. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away" (Luke 21:33).
Jesus is inviting you today to come to Him and have eternal life. "'Come now, let us setttle the matter,' says the LORD. 'Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool'" (Isaiah 1:18).
Will you receive this free gift of God that He wants to give you?

About the Book
Many people say they do not hear God speaking. It is likely they expect to hear His voice booming in their lives. But in truth, He often speaks through your thoughts, circumstances, and other people. Sometimes it’s the subtle, everyday things through which one can hear His voice most clearly.
Through the years, God has used ordinary objects to teach author Elizabeth Smith important spiritual lessons and to make His presence known. In this devotional God Speaks through Ordinary Things, Smith shares some of those ordinary things through which you can hear God speaking. An advertisement for the Bible could be the same as “Geritol’s Advertisement.” Our thought patterns need the same care as “Preparing a Garden”, and a habitual sin is like a “Plaster Cast.” We do not always know why God says no to our prayers, but in “Closed Doors”, Lois was very glad God refused her request. A Christian’s life, as shown in “Demolition,” can be torn down little by little or in one day, the same as a house.
Take the time to observe and think about the events in your life and you too will discover how God speaks through ordinary things.
