About the Author
After serving 20 years in the United States Air Force, Joe retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1977. Joe then worked at the Nevada Test Site in support of nuclear testing program for an additional eighteen years and then fully retired. In 1984 Joe took up marathon running with a passion and qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon for the first time in 1988 and then again in 1995. He ran his last marathon in Helsinki Finland in 2003. After giving up marathon running, Joe now spends his free time hiking, biking and occasionally kayaking. Joe believes that some of his poems were written subconsciously while on his long training runs that kept his mind off the pounding and loneliness on the road. Joe and his wife Veronica were married in 1961 and were blessed with two lovely children, two super grandchildren, and a daughter in-law, also heaven sent. Joe gives all the credit for his poem writing to his wife Veronica who enjoyed his first poem, “Buzz the Bee” and insisted he write another. Soon after that a book idea was born.
