About the Book
Leah’s middle school history class is preparing to go on a pre-Thanksgiving trip to the nearby state park to learn more about the Native American cultures they study in class. Part of the trip involves an assignment where the kids can either take photographs or draw pictures that depict their experiences at the park and what they learn.
In this story, Leah is excited to be going on the class trip because to her it is like a treasure hunt. However, the weekend before the trip, her experiences take an unexpected turn.
Unable to go on the field trip, Leah finds another way to complete her school project. After this, she comes up with a wonderful idea to present to her Mom and family, who are waiting for her father to get back from his military deployment overseas.

About the Author
Cheryl D. James has over thirty years of experience as a military wife and mother. She is a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature and a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She currently lives in Virginia.
