The Castlebuilder “My mind moans to rip free from the reigns of a roaring imagination that beats the quiet from every pore of my soul, and I think and dream and feel, and everything throbs with wandering wonder. World, time, space, you, me…what of it? Architects of splintery hope rebuild reality and provide the dope of a natural kind. Sleep warmly in the velvet duvet of these conceits that have no base, and let go. It is a hot summer day. A tasty crisp sky crackles in the yolky sun. Time melts to a standstill. I roll forever in my sweet subconscious redolence, imbrued in butterscotch. In this world, I can resurrect the dead, love the fluttering birds, kiss the rain, outrun the light. I can devour the sun, quaff the world, make love to the stars, and drown in the milky heavens, dizzy with infinite orbs and violet dust in a spiraling chocolate heat.” But the purples quickly turn to black in his mind. And the birds evolve into demons of every kind. “I’m dying, I’m dead. Lifeless, loveless. Dead.” Turned on its head, the sleepless constructs of the cerebrum wreak havoc on hope. Purple puffs of perfection melt into black. “It is a cold winter night. A dingy, moldy dew cackles in the masochist moonlight. Time suffocates me with its desire to never slow its pace.” “Save me from myself,” cries The Castlebuilder, whose thousand-mile high tower has tipped in the earthquake of fear. But in his mind, he is alone. He can never rip free. And so he turns a page behind his eyes and starts again.

About the Book
Travel on the roller coaster ride of the human mind. Each section in Black, Blue, Purple, Pale, captures the emotional intensity of the state of mind that each color represents. Starting with the darkly rumbling inner-pain personified in "Black," girls with "Lithium and Laced Leggings" and "Creatures of the Night" will "Divide by Zero" and "Break the Framework of Society and Self." The darkness melts into "Blue," where confusion and chaos reign in the world of "The Castlebuilder" and "Quantum Subshells." Things begin to recalibrate themselves in "Purple," as the speaker discovers a "Sensuous and Soporific" love that inevitably brews "A Fire Inside." Finally, "Pale" represents the speaker's catharsis and emotional maturity. But not completely white, "Pale" leaves the speaker painfully cognizant of the scars and mistakes of the past. About the Author
Gita graduated from Troy High School in Fullerton, California, where she quickly gravitated towards her English, philosophy, and science classes. Curious about human nature, both its psychological and physiological aspects, Gita began writing prose and poetry that were inspired by a variety of subjects including ethics, the meaning of life, love, genetics, global warming, and even quantum physics. After inviting New York Times Bestselling author Alyson Noel to speak at her high school's Writers' Club, Gita finally decided it was time to publish her work. Black, Blue, Purple, Pale is Gita's first book. A diverse collection of poems, Black, Blue, Purple, Pale outlines the transition from sorrow and regret to acceptance and happiness that often occurs in life. Gita is an undergraduate at Harvard University where she plans on majoring in neurobiology or human development and regenerative biology while continuing to follow her passion for poetry and creative writing.
