About the Book
Sister Carrie is a novella about a sister who must mother her younger sister when their parents die. The younger sister falls in love with a foreigner with a dark, undisclosed past. Cultures clash and the sisters lose caring and selflessness in a web of violence and destruction. A story rich with unique characters proving they have will to survive life’s most difficult obstacles, and discover inner resources to affect their own destinies.
About the Author
William H. Coles is an award-winning author of The Surgeon’s Wife, The Spirit of Want, Facing Grace with Gloria and Other Stories, The Necklace and Other Stories, Story in Literary Fiction; A Manual for Writers, Literary Story as an Art Form: A Text for Writers, and The Short Fiction of William H. Coles 2001-2011. His books and stories have won or been finalists in The Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, The William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition, The SEAK Competition, and the Sandhill Writers Competition. He created a website for writers that features essays, interviews, stories, a workshop, and recommendations for reading and study. He is a former ophthalmic trauma surgeon, Department Chairman, and Regent for the American College of Surgeons. Presently he lives and writes in Salt Lake City, Utah.
