In the outskirts of Arkansas in the early nineteen sixties; a fatherless African American boy was left alone to protect and support his teenage mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother! As a young child he became a sharecropper; picking and chopping cotton, and working on farms to help raise live stock. While working in the hot cotton fields; all young Tommie could think of was that he would someday join the military, and explore the world. He had dreams of becoming a famous writer and entertainer! When Tommie fimally joined the military and left Arkansas; he learned that the tasks of life, would be much harder than the simple dreams in his young head!
