There were three incidents involving men that happened to me in Wexford, and each one was worse than the previous one. The first one happened outside the club at the end of the night, when the man I’d had the slow dance with took me outside. I don’t know his name because I hardly said a word to anybody in those days. I hardly know the names of any of the many men I danced with and kissed. Anyway, this man took me outside and put me up against the fence. He started kissing my neck and I could do nothing about it but just let him kiss away to his heart’s content. It felt a bit unpleasant, but I didn’t really think anything of it. I’d never heard of love bites so I’d never have guessed he was biting me. Though I have to say he was very good at it, and I was actually quite enjoying it. It’s all in the lips. When he stopped, I said I had to get my jacket so we went our separate ways. When I went to get my jacket the man who was giving it to me said, “You’ve got some bad marks on your neck there”. I don’t know why, but the reply I gave him was, “Do you want a go?” That shut him up, although I still didn’t have any idea what my neck looked like.

About the Book
All on my own is the story of a troubled little girl from Dublin whose family, and in particular her dad, mean everything to her. As a teenager she is very unwell with epilepsy, which is causing big educational and social problems. She learns to kiss down in Wexford, which has become her second home. This leads to some unpleasant sexual incidents. Sarah has made a decision to be a virgin, and about six or seven months after breaking up with her religious boyfriend, she starts a romantic story with a man she picks out of a crowd. Over time, she comes to realise that he’s the only one for her.
About the Author
My name is Sarah Dromey and I decided to write an auto biography because I was advised that what I was telling a friend was very interesting stuff and I should think about writing it all down. I also had an unplanned meeting with a middle aged man in a pub and told him about my love life. He said that what I told him was the most romantic love story he'd ever heard. I was born in Dublin but as you will hopefully read in the book I spent a lot of time in Wexford as a child. Whether I liked it or not has yet to be revealed.
