About the Book
The IRISH JOURNEYS are a summary of impressions from a time before tourism. They include a brief review of Irish history and culture through its NATIONAL MONUMENTS (Volume I) and a special tribute to the beauty and unique qualities of the Irish Landscape and the people living in it (Volume II). Each volume contains over 100 original photographs in black & white or colour chosen for their importance or merit. Highlights are the early Christian High Crosses (Volume I) and pictures from the Atlantic coast-land (Volume II). Ireland is beautiful and interesting in all its aspects.
About the Author
The author has worked as a forestry official, university lecturer and museum director. Studies of Irish history and culture led to extensive travels to Ireland beginning in 1964. The documentation of National Monuments visited and the views of Irish landscapes are of special interest after 50 years as many of the images from this time no longer exist or have changed considerably.
