I Am I am a melody Trapped in chords of blues I am sunflowers blooming The ebb and flow Of Yemayá pleading I am resistance Tenacity A Borikwa Phoenix I am that speck in your eye That can never really be found Until lips blow me away with a quick And distant goodbye My words are my vice My art is to write I am Emalia, In constant transformation Still Life I live in a world of Illusions Illusions that I have created My state of existence Torn from my flesh I live in a world of lies Pondered on Devouring time I let the darkness in And lay in the deepness Of its regrets I swim openly In the depths of its silence Hiding in its rays of sorrow I ponder, in flight Of all that was lost I admit, I don’t know how to love I have no desire To hold on to anything Only yearning I can sit in silence for hours Live in silence for years While this solitary teardrop Permeates the cavity Of my lonely existence Unyielding, is my need for resistance Untimely I seal my fate Eyes shut to the world around me I am darkness, surrounded in a veil of light Blinding— Intrusive is the way of the world— I am almost living Somewhat here At times, Feeling, Laughing, But mostly,— I’m dying Blindfolded Hands tied up Heart, beat-less; meaningless I submit to the burden of it all I am two breaths short of an internal civil war Flesh aching Body fatigued I am still life And still—I live

About the Book
Through her poetry "Emalia" touches on perhaps every aspect of living taking the reader to the depths and beyond of her existence. She demonstrates the highs and lows of life along with the resilience needed to survive by any means. It is a compilation of poetry written in the darkest times with the hopes of finding light at the end of each line.
About the Author
“Emalia” Alpha Omega Poetry: Life Lessons _________________________________________ “Emalia” was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and raised in Spanish Harlem, NYC. She is a Writer, Poet and Spoken Word Artist by night, and a Social Service provider and Environmentalist working with inner city youth by day. She is currently working on an autobiographical book in hopes that it will help those living in darkness. “After years of living and journaling, I am ready to tell my story." Her Alpha Omega Poetry is an introduction to the book, From Bloodline to Name.
