About the Book

I was thrilled when my brother Don asked me to help him finish a manuscript he had been working on for 8 years. I’ve never worked on a novel, so this task will be outside the box for me. I’m used to writing religious and children’s books. The events are true but the names have been changed to protect those who have risked their lives working behind the scenes for the security of our country. This book was written to illustrate and document the experience of a common US citizen being brought into the navel protection program and surviving to tell his story. All of the episodes are real but where security is in question, the story is modified to accommodate the particular situation. There are no security breaches in this manuscript and fictional reference is made to items where/when it is necessary to disguise security related events or to preclude revealing classified material. The setting is rural Mississippi starting with Columbus and moving to my birthplace of Houston, Mississippi in Chickasaw County. Simpsons have resided in Chickasaw Co. for 100 yrs.

About the Author

Vera Simpson Gaines and her brother Don Trussell Simpson teamed up to write There’s A Spy Among Us. This is a story of a US citizen’s secret life as a secret agent for the US Government. He was the first Nuclear Eng. Student at Mississippi State Un. He is one of five people in the world that has expertises in Nuclear Engineering and has used that information to keep us safe. He prevented many accidents over the years while working with nuclear reactors. There are some missions that are not disclosed due to their sensitive nature and current events. There are many unsung heroes that you will never hear about but as Americans we should be very grateful for the sacrifices that have been made on behalf of the public. Never forget our vets. We remain a free country because of them.
