Mercedes was so excited to be chosen by the pastor as one of the teens to go on an evangelistic mission she could barely speak. The church was sending a group of members to a small island that had suffered a great disaster. They were going on a medical mission. The church was always involved with teaching and training the youth for future leadership missions. This was a very important part of the Church of Christ.
Mercedes was about to make not only a historical journey for the Church, but she was also developing her future as a child of God. This trip, this experience would change Mercedes; this was more than just a trip and she knew it. Sadaru took her daughter in her arms and with tears in her eyes they both cried, not because they were sad, but because of all of the experiences of Sadaru, Mercedes and Mercedes grandmother. The long talks, the good choices and the bad ones, they had managed to understand and realize that all things in their lives could work together for their common good, if they believe and live their lives as God would have them, that all would be well.
The joys of having a relationship with God and the importance of family togetherness make us who we are. Never underestimate the importance of your relationship with family. God’s design of the family and His expectations of our relationship with Him are key to our success as a child of God.
Yes, our goal is to have everlasting life with our Father, but part of our responsibilities while here on earth is to seek the kingdom of God and make the best of what God has blessed us with and to help others do the same. To develop and maintain a good relationship with God and to glorify His name in everything we do.
Sadaru and Mercedes reflected on all the conversations they had and how God not only brought them closer together as mother and daughter, but how God had blessed Mercedes with an opportunity to evangelize and grow in her personal relationship with Him. What a blessing that one circumstance in Mercedes life had become, sometimes a tragedy can be the catalyst for a blessing.

About the Book
Reflections of a Season, Sadaru’s story, is the beginning of a series that will cover various topics of concern for all. They will address real issues each of us face on a daily basis, along with suggested solutions or courses of actions, all in conjunction with having faith and a solid relationship with God. Reflections of a Season are short stories about Sadaru’s relationships with her daughter Mercedes and her family. In her conversations with her daughter, she reveals some circumstances she faced in her life, all of which helped her become the strong, faithful servant of God she is today. The intent is to show how important communication is in our families and to show how important it is for us to have a personal relationship with God. Reflections of a Season is just the beginning of a long look at the life of Sadaru, a sister in Christ that seeks first the Kingdom of God and wants to share her story so you also might grow to know our wonderful Father in heaven.
About the Author
Joyce Elaine has spent more than thirty years working in the secular world, meeting the expectations of others. During this time, she has researched and studied various religious organizations in search of God’s true religion. Although most religious organizations have some good attributes, Joyce has found that examining various religious organizations and keeping abreast of what is going on throughout the world along with consistent prayer and communication with our Father in heaven is the best practice all Christians should have.
