The Maiden of Avril

Outside the enclosure Armin and Oz rose to their feet. Something was wrong, it wasn’t safe. Holly wasn’t safe. They broke orders and ran in. They ran pass Teniah and Jetta; they were fine. Teniah turned to see them, “Where are they going?” But Jetta wasn’t paying attention. She was suddenly very serious. She was looking across the water, the fog made it impossible to see the other side. Then the water rippled and everything around them was deathly calm. Jetta’s tail started slashing from side to side, a low growl rumbling from her chest. Her vocalization heightened, she began hissing and spitting. Tibet stopped playing as he and Skandia witnessed a most horrific sight. A huge beast pounced on top of Holly; she tried to run away. She tried to push it off but she was no match. It went for her ankle, biting down hard; it forcefully dragged her backward into its cave. Skandia and Tibet rushed to her aide; biting at the creatures fur. It kicked them both aside with strong legs. Holly screamed. Teniah heard that scream and ran in that direction. Jetta followed at his heels. Oz and Armin spilt off, jumping across the water. Armin went for the head; Oz the hindquarters. It shirked in pain, releasing Holly. She made a run for it; right into Teniah.
