Extraordinary Circumstances

Jim woke up a little confused. He felt cold, but could feel he was under cover even though it was too dark to see anything. Jim knew his eyes were open so he raised his hand to touch his face. He then realized he was under what appeared to be a sheet!
Blinking his eyes several times and concentrating, he was able to finally see outlines of things in the room. So Jim sat up. The sheet dropped down from before his eyes and with the aid of some residual lighting, he was able to see his surrounding better.
Jim was unsure of where he was. Thinking back, the last thing he remembered was when he was working, and then the last few seconds of the events prior to the darkness came flooding back into his mind. The feeling of panic was quick but resided just as quickly when he also realized he was alive, awake and obviously cold.
Checking himself out he noticed his chest had been stitched up, but no bandages. He was also naked, barely covered by the sheet now draping his lower half while sitting on a cold, metal, gurney!
Quickly looking around, Jim’s mind was racing, trying to figure out what happened since he was last aware of his surroundings. He was in a room with two other bodies under sheets. Covered from head to toe with that same sheet. He looked down at his feet, now hanging from the side of the gurney. What do you know, he thought. A toe tag. So at least that rumor was true.
