Marshall's Story: The Beginnings of the Inner Circle

She said, “Having second thoughts?” I replied, “No. Have not even finished my first thoughts yet. “She then got very serious and said, “Explain.” I said, “I am not sure I can. It feels like winning the lottery without ever having bought a ticket. It’s like never dreaming about anything your entire life and suddenly having every dream come true.“ She sat and thought for a few minutes and then said, “I know enough of your former life to understand that you have no past frame of reference for what you are feeling now. It is taking you longer to make sense of your feelings.” Suddenly I felt fully awake. I smiled and said, “That’s it! Not just the frame of reference thing. It is the feelings themselves. It is having feelings for another human being that is so new to me.” We sat on the edge of the bed and I sat on the edge of my new awareness. Time passed but I could not say how much. I was in more dimensionality now. I was aware of her presence, my presence, and our presence. That is the best way I can explain it. “I” had become “we“, “She” had become larger than “me.” And somehow, all that made me more than before. The fog was lifting
