Bumbling BoBo

It is early afternoon in the jungle. The animals have just settled down for a little midday nap. A breeze gently ruffles tree branches, while birds twitter and insects zoom about. The jungle is very peaceful. As a young gorilla walks down a path, he sees something in the bushes. It’s red and blue and has four wheels. It’s BoBo’s lucky day. “My skateboard!” says BoBo. “I found it. How did it get here? This is really the best, happiest day ever.” Quick as a wink he wheels down the trail. He beams with excitement, zipping along going faster and faster. No jungle animal can ride a skateboard as skillfully as BoBo. Then it happens. He doesn’t see it coming. A palm tree gets in his way. Crash! Bam! BoBo flies into some bushes and hurts his arm. The collision loosens a coconut from high above. It falls a long, long way. Poor Wrap-around Annie is thumped on the head. “Hisst!” hisses an anaconda. “What was that? Oh my dizzy head.” She uses her tail to rub her head. Then she notices BoBo. “BoBo!” she scolds. “What on earth! That really hurt. Riding a skateboard during nap time? You must be more careful.” BoBo rubs his sore arm and says, “The tree ran right out in front of me.” “Hardly possible,” says Wrap-around Annie as her tongue licks the air. “Trees have no feet. You were very naughty. Be on your way before I call your mother.” “I-I’m sorry,” says BoBo, his head hanging sadly. “I really am.” As she slithers away, the anaconda hisses quietly, “Bumbling BoBo. That should be your name.” Her nap time is over.
