In Chapters One through three, the perspective viewpoint takes you into the scenery of asylums, with the character experiencing some aspect of how it feels to be mentally ill. It is both an experience of contemporary occurrence and the chronological. At other chapters, the realization of mental syndrome goes on, and each experience will teach you the truth. Although many stories are written with the end being inspirational, sometimes things do not turn out that way in life. The end of the chapters of my book “Did You Leave Your Senses”?
You will be left with a sense of reality. But, as most of my poems relate to this, most are at the same time inspirational. Immoral things do not always last forever. Through my book, I also want to end the existence of stigma towards mental illness.
Through the experience of living with a mental health disability, I have written a book. Each short story, whether taking place in the past or present, is written so that anyone can put themselves in my shoes. When you are done, you will go through the experience, and be left with the impression of my characters. The poetry has been collected over the moment in time of my tribulations. I want people to on one aspect to understand the mindset of mental illness, and on the other aspect learn not to be stigmatic. On the other tribulation, I have written poems meant to inspire so that anyone can understand how life would be in the recovery of this horrendous disease. I want you to come into my mind and observe. My goal for the reading to the end of the book is to erase the stigma of mental illness.

About the Book
Despite scientific studies and years of research, mental illness still carries a heavy stigma. People don’t like to talk about it or acknowledge mental illness as a real disease that requires treatment. Author Susan Cane has suffered from mental illness most of her life. She is no stranger to the judgments of others, but she believes it is time for things to change.
In From One Encounter to the Next, she presents a collection of poetry and short stories exploring the day-to-day struggles of a person suffering from mental illness. Many of Cane’s pieces were written in the midst of her battle, while others were written in hindsight. Each piece strives to honestly communicate Cane’s road to recovery.
Some of her words are sad and wrought with difficulty, while others strive for comic relief and inspiration. Mental illness is a constant state of hills and valleys; Cane can attest to that from personal experience. Mental illness is also an epidemic that needs to be confronted—without judgment, without stigma, and with patience, love, and hope.
About the Author
Susan M. Cane has lived in Pennsylvania her whole life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Once a hospital volunteer, she currently works in the field of financial advising.
