My parents were not big on taking us to church. Unlike the majority of parents in our predominantly Catholic neighborhood, they slept in on Sunday and read the Washington Post . This was only one of the things that set them apart from the rest of the neighbors. I'm pretty sure that our dad was the only one in our modest suburban subdivision who kept a loaded Soviet handgun in the basement which he used to shoot up a target featuring the face of Nikita Kruschev.

About the Book
These are stories that range in time from the 1950’s to the present, and cover topics from extremists churches to rape to farming as a dying lifestyle. Some are semi-autobiographical, others are figments of the author’s imagination, and some are mere fragments of dreams.
About the Author
Ms. Detisch is a recently retired English teacher who has been writing fiction since she could clutch a number two pencil. She has published poetry, a short story collection, and was editor/writer for a large company publication in Los Angeles for a number of years. She also owned a greeting card company, and continues to write Letters to the Editor on a regular basis, much to the chagrin of local newspapers. She is married to a pipefitter/cattleman, has three grown, outrageously successful children, and two devoted dogs and one cranky cat. She lives in rural Northern Kentucky.
